Breton Diamond Wire Saws for Granite
Machine used to saw granite blocks into slabs with variable thickness by means of diamond wires.
MACHINE STRUCTURE, MECHANISMS AND DIAMOND WIRE TENSIONING
Heavy-duty, heat treated arc-welded steel structure ensuring the maximum stiffness of the system and cutting precision of the machine.
Two opposite carts connected by a structural beam, which slide vertically on the columns of the support structure for the vertical motion of the cutting wires. The carts support the components for the wire motion and stretching, and are moved vertically by screw/nut screw mechanisms, which are controlled by variable-speed brushless motor. The weight of the wire carts is compensated by a couple of oil-pressure cylinders. Large driving drum for wire rotation and driven by inverter controlled asynchronous motor with reducer to manage the wire peripheral speed according to the material to be sawn.
Three driven drums consisting of independent pulleys installed on bearings, which are coated with special interchangeable wear-resistant elastomer profiles. Each profile has three wire driving grooves so that wires can be arranged in the correct position for sawing slabs with the desired thickness. Two driven drums whose function is to drive the wires next to the point where they get into, and come out from, the block to be sawn. Double set of wire stretching pulleys installed on the two opposite ends, which are actuated by oil-pressure cylinders that maintain each single diamond wire constantly and independently stretched.
